RD Microwaves is a small and nimble rf/microwave components design and manufacturing company with decades of experience designing sophisticated products for some of the leading companies in the industry.

RD Microwaves was founded by Marek Antkowiak as a small business in 2003 with the assistance of the New Jersey Institute of Technology [NJIT] Enterprise Development Center in Newark, N.J.   The company started with a new innovative patented product, the Unequal Power Divider commonly known as a Tapper that has become an international standard and well known product used in DAS in building systems globally. From the beginning, the company set forth the highest standards for the  facility, design tools, manufacturing, test equipment, and the performance of its products. The company employs the most experienced personnel for all facets of its business. Its first success came quickly with receipt of substantial indoor/ outdoor wireless orders for suspended substrate diplexers used in antenna sharing applications. The need for additional skilled personnel and manufacturing resources required a move to a facility in East Hanover, New Jersey and later to a larger modern facility in Boonton, New Jersey.


RD Microwaves is known for its rapid response custom innovative and creative designs, mechanical packaging, and manufacture of passive RF/microwave frequency components and low PIM cable assemblies. These products serve the wireless industry for indoor and outdoor applications. Included are components and sub-assemblies for DAS indoor applications, such as filters tappers, splitters, couplers, hybrids (2x2, 3x3, 4x4), and rack mounted assemblies. These products are available in many different connector combinations, male or female, such as 7-16 DIN , Type N,  4.3-10, NEX10 , 2.2-5.0, 1.0/2.3, QMA and SMA and others.  Prominent features include broadband performance, high power capability, low insertion loss, and low PIM  for communication products.

Design and Manufacturing

The company philosophy is centered around the design and manufacture of robust products using elegantly simple designs resulting in cost effective local/domestic manufacture. Filters are produced, for example, without tuning screws but using instead new suspended substrate technology. Standard design building blocks are widely used. The use of state-of-the-art design software including 3-D electromagnetic simulation modeling with Ansys High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS)® and Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS)® for circuit design. Autodesk Inventor® is utilized to create mechanical 3-D modeling that facilitates accurate first pass completion. The design methodology allows delivery cycle and cost to be reduced. Connectors have been carefully evaluated and customized to provide the best performance for PIM which is tested to achieve less than 160 dBc on many products. Metal plating applications have been carefully researched and standardized for the best quality, cost, and performance. Modifications in frequency, performance, specifications, connectors, and packaging are quickly and easily accomplished with minor modifications to existing product designs. In addition to its in-house design activities, RD encourages customer design participation and prides itself in being able to generate final products that meet all customer expectations that are optimized for the application.

The strategy of the company is to compete in the wireless and other emerging markets with robustly designed products and highly efficient local manufacturing.

The patented technology in our products utilize unique designs that provide high power, low loss, and wide-band performance. Innovations also extend to DAS antenna monitoring methods using DC isolation and location code monitoring for individual antennas.
